St.Patrick's Day History

St. Patrick’s Day is a very important day and around the world it is celebrated with full fervor and excitement. But this day originated in Ireland and honors the patron saint St. Patrick. Saint Patrick was the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland who is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland.

Every year St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17 to honor him. For five days, the country marks its celebrations by carnival style parades, spectacular fireworks and Ireland's largest outdoor dance event. The official color of Ireland colors the celebrations - from the uniform of the marching band to the food they eat on this day. Irish myths, leprechauns and shamrock leaves are the principle symbols.
St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the United States are quite secular and dates back to 1737. This was the time when Boston held its first St. Patrick’s Day parade. This day is celebrated with green beer, parades and wearing green colored clothes.

So let’s join in this fun filled festival and fete in the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
