The ceramic Christmas trees are those Christmas trees that are made of clay. It may sound strange that there are Christmas trees made of clay but don’t be the least bit surprised to know that there do exist such Christmas trees. It is very essential to ensure that the making of ceramic Christmas trees is done a few days ahead of the Christmas celebrations. The reasons being that the ceramic Christmas trees take 10 to 14 days to be made. Here are a few directions that would help you to make the ceramic Christmas trees in the best possible manner.   • First the liquid clay is poured into the casting moulds. These moulds are kept for three parts of the tree. The first one is the base, second for the tree and final one for the extra branch of the large tree. After about 45 minutes the excess slip is poured out of the mould.

  • Leave it for 6 to 8 hours till the slip sits in the moulds. The tree is then removed from the holes and punched on the holes for the light bulbs. The unmolded pieces are then left overnight to be dried.
  • The top part of the tree is joined to the bottom branch and left to be dried for 2 to 3 days. While doing so the green seams are cleaned from the green ware.

  • The pieces are placed in an oven and fire to cone 04(2000 degrees). It would take 3 to 4 hours to heat to that temperature. Before being opened the oven must be cooled.

  • Painting the Christmas tree is essential to give it a fine look. The temperature is set to 05 (1900) so that it cools overnight before being opened. The tree is then painted and the tips of the branches are painted with snow paint.

  • The tree is placed on the kelin or oven and the stilt doesn’t harden on the self of the kiln. It is fired again at come 05, taking 3 to 4 hours to heat up and over night to cool.

  • The tree is now complete and ready for wiring and bulbs
