Christmas Story Plays

The Christmas fiesta is no less than any other festival. In fact, it is one of the most widely celebrated festivals. No doubt, not only Christians celebrate Christmas but people of other religions also take pleasure in enjoying every bit of this great carnival.

After all, it won't be incorrect to say that the hymn of Christmas songs and the melody of "Mary's boy child" make us tap our foot and take us into the silent night of December 25, when Angels had heralded the coming of our redeemer, the Christ.
Christmas brings celebration mood among all of us. The festive fervor can be seen in people of all ages during Christmas. Every family gets busy with decoration work; Carol singers go on caroling in every street of their city; they even go to schools and colleges to spread the message of love through caroling; children in schools prepare their Christmas Play to present on the annual function day; and so on.

Listening to Christmas stories is one of the favorite moments of Christmas for children. All these years you have been listening to those all time favorites Christmas stories passively. This Christmas stir action out of your passiveness and take initiative to produce some of the most loved Christmas Story Plays.

It's time to act out all those Christmas stories into Plays. After all, if Charles Dickens captured the spirit of Christmas by writing 'A Christmas Carol' then why can't you do the same by presenting a Play?

Here are the ideas for Christmas Story Plays:
  • Think of a simple Christmas Story that your grandmother might have told you when you were a kid
  • Write the script for the play by writing each character's dialogue in series.
  • Select your cast crew.
  • Give one copy of script to each character and rehearse for the dialog delivery.
  • After you are thorough with dialogues, practice rehearsal on location.
  • Plan a time bound Play. A too short Play would fail and a too long one would lose audience's attention.
  • Plan your Play much before Christmas because costumes and other props need to be done well to make the Play as authentic as possible.
  • Adapting the story of birth of Jesus Christ into Play would be a perfect idea for Christmas Story Plays.
  • To make your play more effective, you can go for sound effects and other audio- visual medium. For instance, if you want to show angels heralding the coming of baby Jesus, then you can have a background score singing, "Gloria".
