The film is about the kid Ralphie Parker who wants to have an official Red Ryder, carbine action BB gun this Christmas. This forms the storyline of ‘A Christmas story’. The story actually begins with this desire of the little boy who tries every possible way and uses his pester power to get what he wants for Christmas.

When he asks his mother for BB gun for Christmas, she says, “ No, you will shoot your eye out”. When he writes an essay about it at school his teacher gives him a ‘C’ grade with a note saying, “ You will shoot your eye out”. Next he asks Santa for the gun and Santa too gives the familiar response and says, “ you will shoot your eye out kid”. Ralph fears that he will never get the BB gun for Christmas but he still hopes that there may be a surprise in store for him.
