Legend has it that a poor girl named Maria and her little brother Pablo wished to give something to Baby Jesus at Christmas Eve but unfortunately they had nothing. So, Maria collected some common weeds and arranged them into a small bouquet. Though they felt saddened by their offering and other children teasing, they gave what they could. They started placing the weeds around the manger and suddenly those weeds proliferated into blooms of red flowers. Soon the manger was full of star like phenomenon flowers. These flowers were Red Poinsettias. The tale of this flower spreads the message of Christmas that God accepts anything offered to Him with love, for He loves all.
